Jonathan Frank
Jonathan Frank is a self-taught artist living in Moab, Utah. His work, very simply, is an emotional response to the breathtaking world around him.
He realized his desire to interpret these images in watercolor and explore his artistic potential. The experience of nature galvanized him. To this day, it makes his heart jump, his eyes wide and his spirit tangible. It is this feeling of utter awe and radiance – sheer happiness – that he presents to the viewer.
In a unique process, Jonathan meticulously paints layer upon layer of transparent watercolor – each color shining through the last – creating luminous patterns of abstract shapes. He then outlines each shape with black India ink – using a rapidograph pen. This produces a clean, unified and eloquently bold landscape. It is this definitive style that has earned Jonathan a national following. |
